Another update from the Help Desk Team about the FAQ Revamp
The following sections are ones we have reviewed this week completely/partially:
deviantART>Guides (removed out of date FAQ 602 and moved FAQ 90 to deviantART>My Account>Your Profile Page) this section has been eliminated
deviantART>Help Desk & FAQ
deviantaRT>Problem & Errors
deviantART>Search
deviantART>Sta.sh
We've been making a list and checking it twice to make sure FAQs that could be greatly benefited from Screenshots are noted down. Some FAQs have already been improved by fancy new screenshots done by $Ikue We'd love to hear from you all if there are certain FAQs you believe could be benefited from Screenshots. Please note though we only want to add screenshots to the ones that can truly benefit from it to make it easier for those who might have difficulty understanding the text or locating the information.
Check out what the new screenshots look like in FAQ #400: I created a group but users cannot join. How do I let them?
Links that suggest you contact the Help Desk are being modified to take you the Contact Form with the category you need automatically set! Yes that's right you can link someone directly to a specific category of the Help Desk
We loved all the responses sent in on the last update and hope you keep them coming. We are taking in suggestions for new FAQs, recommendations on FAQs that need attention due to being rusty, confusing, or ones that need screenshots. Please keep in mind though that we are only updating FAQs within our area so this does not include any FAQs that are Retail or Copyright & Etiquette related.
Stay tuned we should have some exciting news coming up!

Ive spent hours sending & receiving notes back & forth walking people through this
Especially the minimal english speaking deviants. I think A visual would be much better for them.
The screenshots look great, too! Very fancy, and makes it much more clear.
Great addition with how we can directly link to the contact form and its right category there.
FAQ #504: Is there an official staff listing?
I'd recommend removing *stafflist as they never update anymore
FAQ #106: What are the symbols in front of each deviants nickname?
FAQ #81: How can I make links to other deviants, deviations, or websites?
This is great but I think the chatroomlinks should be explained as well, the ones that go :#chatroomname:
FAQ #104: What HTML formatting can we use on deviantART? And what is the format for these codes?
FAQ #53: How do I use Emoticons? Where are they?
Would be nice if it mentioned chatrooms [link]
FAQ #665: What is a scuzzle?
I think this isn't really needed anymore? Though it has sentimental value for some maybe
FAQ #815: Do I need to purchase wallpapers I find on deviantART to use or download them?
dA has introduced an exception to this in the form of Premium Content.
FAQ #13: What is the 'More Menu' and how do I use it?
This is based on pre-V7 times. We now have Sticky & Unsticky menu instead
FAQ #44: I am a mobile interface user, but I do not wish to use this interface. How can I disable it?
Minor edit: this also still calls it 'more menu' (how accurate it is otherwise, i don't know, as I don't use the mobile version).
FAQ #41: What do the "Parent", "Top" and "Reply" links under comments mean?
In the current interface, the first two buttons are above (some) comments, not under.
FAQ #661: How do I post a comment (devious thoughts)?
I would suggest removing this
FAQ #15: What is a deviation?
Journals are now deviations, too.
FAQ #163: Where can I find the description to a Gallery that I want to submit to?
This button is hard to find. I would suggest adding one of those awesome new screenshots like those I've seen in many of the updated FAQs
FAQ #789: What determines the way my photos are arranged in my gallery when clicking on the sort option 'Popular'?
This is now a lot more complicated - I suggest linking to #hq's journals on Fair Exposure.
FAQ #39: I just tried to submit a file to X Category, but it told me the filetype I am trying to upload is not allowed. What can I do?
Of course I have no access to the complete data on this in your systems but I know the list here isn't complete or accurate
FAQ #648: One or more images look blurry or pixelated to me. Why is this?
I don't really know anything about this so I can't comment on the content, but it has some \s that should probably be removed.
FAQ #788: I submitted an image to deviantART but the colors look different then they did on my computer or the image looks blurry or pixelated. Why is this?
Is this not partly the same as FAQ648?
FAQ #79: How do I submit Artwork, Flash Animations or Literature?
"Submitting via Sta.sh -" It's good that this was added, but due to its layout and the place it was located, it feels like it is part of the normal submission process rather than an alternative option. So simply moving this to the top and giving it a <h4> instead of <b> would help a lot already
FAQ #816: How do I upload a collection of images or files, such as brushes, wallpapers or other?
has extra \\s as well.
FAQ #242: What are scraps?
Text is correct, the image could use an update as it looks like this now [link]
FAQ #243: How do I change an already submitted deviation to a scrap and vice versa?
For "moving out of scraps", it would be worth mentioning that watchers still won't be notified of the submission if they don't watch your scraps.
FAQ #590: What are the hours of operation for the Help Desk?
Doesn't answer its question... though it does contain the necessary information for most people with this question, I suppose.
FAQ #742: I am unable to receive or see messages at this time in my "Message Centre". Does this also mean I cannot receive or see Help Desk responses?
I think this should be reworded to shift focus. As in - "I cannot see any messages in my message center", then advice on what to do. Then as additional advice you say, if that doesn't help, they should report it to the +help, oh and they don't need to worry about not getting the response as this will (also) be emailed to them.
That would help more people. I know from personal experience and from regular questions in #help that this is a common problem, but usually with a simple solution. But I think not many people will find it now, as it is 'hidden' under the header of a question that may not be their first concern.
I hope I've made myself clear enough
That FAQ is kind of contradicting itself at the moment.
