Lindenwood the nature preserve I like to go to often is filled with lots of various frogs big ones, small ones, and tadpoles. They have had their hungry eyes on mating dragonflies and damselflies this past few trips. There are 6 species of frogs/toads all together at Lindenwood.
No it is not a Green Frog I know the difference between the two. If you look on the Green Frog it has a ridge behind the eye that goes all the way down the side of its back on each side. This is a young Bull Frog.
Yeah, and a bullfrog also has a larger tympanum and exaggerated "hipbones", with little patterning, whereas this guy shows classic Green frog patterning. But I suppose it's possible. This angle wouldn't show any of the characteristics either of us mentioned. Still pretty though.
Yes the angle may not show it but I have more photos of this frog and both frogs do share this pond but I can see the difference in them. This one probably has more patterning because it is a very young bull frog and still quite small maybe about 3 inches.
